Vanishing future

Giant pieces of melting ice, remnants of the collapsing glacier, float motionlessly in the mud-coloured brown glacier lake until they vanish forever.

Hoffellsjökull is an outlet glacier which flows from the ice cap of Vatnajökull, located in southeast region of Iceland. Glacer was greatest in size around hundred years ago, and for the next fifty years, it drifted to the moraine ridge situated in front of it. Local residents would drive up on to this ridge and fill trucks with glacial ice used for chilling fish, both onshore and at sea. Due to climate changes, Hoffellsjökull has retreated a considerable distance. A deep lake is rapidly developing in the depression left behind. It will continue to grow as the glacier retreats.

Makeup palettes

Salina de Isla Cristina located in Southern Spain, just few km from Portugal border, is the smallest saline amongst the ten I have visited this summer. Here we can discover sustainable traditional activities of totally ecological process of obtaining common sea salt, Flower of Salt and other highly valued culinary varieties of salt.

The Isla Cristina Marches are a protected area, and the tidal dynamics, along with the high biomass make it an ideal place for birds, where we can find about 140 species, and due to the high salt concentration, brine shrimp population is also high in this area.
